Our Story

A Scoop of History

Lizzy’s first opened its doors in 1995 in Waltham, on Moody Street, and quickly became a local staple. What began as a dream by founder Nick Pappas evolved into more than a dessert shop — it turned into a gathering spot, a place where neighborhood stories were shared over waffle cones.

Over time, the business grew. In 2016, Nick stepped back, and Miriam Benitez — who had worked at Lizzy’s since she was in high school — took over the Waltham location, carrying forward its spirit.Meanwhile, a second location in Harvard Square operates under a partner, Phil Rizzuto, still under the Lizzy’s umbrella.

Lizzy’s has always been proud of its homemade approach. We produce our ice cream in small batches with low overruns making it creamy and delicious.
Lizzy’s is a gathering spot for our community. We are open all year round giving a place to get together even in the colder months. We hire local teens and long term employees. We donate to local schools and non-profit education foundations. We host kids parties, sundae parties for schools, colleges and businesses in the city and metro-west area.
