Custom Cakes at our Waltham Store
Create the perfect celebration dessert—our custom ice cream cakes are available in multiple sizes and can be picked up at our Waltham location.
Lizzy’s cakes are crafted with two layers of rich ice cream and your choice of cold hot fudge or chocolate cookie crunchies in the middle. Every cake is over 3 inches tall!
With 72 hours (3 days) advance notice, you can order a custom cake in your choice of size, flavors, fillings, and decorations.
Please note that custom cakes are available exclusively at our Waltham store and payment in advance is required.
For same-day or last-minute needs, we offer 6” and 8” stock cakes available for pick -up at both our Waltham and Harvard Square locations.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I order my Custom Ice Cream Cake?
We need 3 days (72 hours) for custom cake orders. We might be able to accommodate last-minute requests (less than 3 days) for a rush fee. Custom cake pick up available only at our Waltham Location.
Does Lizzy’s have any ice cream cakes in stock for pick-up today or from Harvard Square?
Yes, we do! Most of them are Vanilla/Chocolate with Fudge filling, Vanilla/Chocolate with Crunch filling, Oreo®/Oreo® with no filling. Stock cakes are also available at our Harvard Square store, which is open seasonally.
Can Lizzy’s customize the stock cakes?
At our Waltham store we can write “Happy birthday ________” but we cannot add additional decorations. Harvard Square cannot write on cakes.
I have a food allergy. Can I have a custom ice cream cake from Lizzy’s?
Quite possibly! Many of our ice cream flavors are gluten free, peanut free, and/or, tree nut free. We can even make a dairy-free cake with Tofutti®! There are many food allergies that we can accommodate, but as with any food allergy it’s extremely important that you let us know about the allergy when you’re placing the cake order so that we know to take extra precautions when preparing your cake and so we can assist you in ordering.
When should I take my ice cream cake out of the freezer to cut and serve?
As a general guide, you should leave your ice cream cake out at room temperature for 30 minutes before cutting it. However, this varies some based on the size of the cake and your freezer. A 6” cake may only need to sit out 20 minutes whereas a 12” x 16” could need to sit out 45 minutes or longer depending on the temperature of the room.
How do I store my ice cream cake?
You must store your ice cream cake in a freezer. Ice cream cannot be stored in a refrigerator for very long without melting. It also cannot be stored outside in winter even in New England! It will melt. A refrigerator can be a good way to slowly soften your ice cream cake however. We suggest putting your cake in the fridge an hour before you plan on serving.
